GPN meets several times a year for networking events, dinners and socials and support other affiliated organisations and gay owned or operated venues.
Together, we tackle homophobia and other forms of discrimination affecting the LGBT+ community, addressing these issues in the press and social media. We promote education in schools, families, and beyond, teaching cherish and respect for all.

They study the article and were like, ‘Absolutely no, this is not going to happen.’ When they were shutting down the article, they were like, ‘We have absolutely no challenge with you being male lover – it’s just about how it will be viewed in middle America. We feel bad – we just can’t execute it.’” I’m sitting outside a pub in Clerkenwell, London, talking to Tim Von Werne about his previous life as an openly gay sponsored skater. Tim is someone whose call constantly crops up in any conversation about male lover people in skateboarding, whether you’re trawling magazine note boards and YouTube comments or talking to some of the biggest names in the business. Originally from Miami, Tim was an am for Birdhouse Skateboards at the conclude of the nineties, but his career was slash short in 1998 when his sponsor pulled an interview in Skateboarder magazine in which he talked about his sexuality. It’s one of those rare sunny Saturdays in the capital and Tim, now a scientist living in London with his husba Laura Barnard is the founder of Breakthru Brands, a governance empowerment company that builds personal leadership brands for underrepresented professionals at organizations. She is also the author of the upcoming book LEADERSHIP TYPES, coming out this summer in 2024, which is a guidebook for helping professionals unlock their leadership potential. With Laura's background in psychology, she has developed the Spectrum of Leadership Empowerment (SLE), which is an innovative and inclusive leadership framework that enables professionals to better understand themselves and their colleagues in order to lead more authentically and effectively. This is the basis of her work at Breakthru Brands, and the subject of her upcoming book.
