T d jakes son gay
When preachers pontificate too much from on High about the sins of gay sex, the cautionary tale is to be careful of what you speak, because your words invariable will enter back to nip you, as we have seen with fallen evangelical luminary the Rev. Ted Haggard.
For Bishop T. D. Jakes, the internationally recognizable African-American evangelical luminary dubbed as the Black Billy Graham, his rantings against homosexuality have arrive back to gnaw him in the form of his oldest son’s recent arrest.
On Jan. 3, Jermaine Jakes was arrested in a sex sting for openly soliciting homosexual sex from an undercover vice detective in a common park just a few blocks from his father’s church, The Potter’s Residence, a 30,000-member megachurch in Dallas, Texas.
The arrest warrant affidavit filed by Dallas police detectives on Jermaine Jakes stated the following:
“Suspect Jakes walked directly over to where Detective X was, and stood next to Detective X with his penis exposed through his unzipped pants. … Suspect Jakes committed the offense of indecent exposure by exposing his erect penis in a public place with his intent to gratify or arouse the sexual desire of himself. Suspe
Bishop T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potter’s House megachurch in Dallas, has again decided to utilize his position as one of the most influential African-American pastors in the country to publicly bash gay people. Jakes appeared on Oprah Winfrey’s novel talk show, Oprah’s Next Chapter, on Sunday and declared that he believes homosexuality is “condemned by the scriptures.”
Here’s a transcript of the exchange:
Oprah: “Would you say that everybody is embraced in your church?”
Jakes: “Oh, absolutely. Yeah, absolutely.”
Oprah: “Because you know that you’ve been accused of saying that gay people would not be welcome.”
Jakes: “Oh, no, no, no. That’s not true at all.”
Oprah: “That’s not true?”
Jakes: “Well, the interpretation in our culture today is that if you don’t say you’re for same-sex marriage or if you state that homosexuality is a sin that you’re homophobic and you’re against same-sex attracted people. That’s not true. I’m not called to deliver my opinion. I’m called as a pastor to grant the scriptural position on it. It doesn’t mean I have to approve with you to love you. I don’t dislike anybody. I love everybody.”
Oprah: “But does it mean you perceive bein
While T.D. Jakes, pastor of the Potter’s House megaministry, has cited scheduling conflicts for the cancellation of his St. Louis speaking engagement next Friday at the Chaifetz Arena. But some are speculating that the release of facts concerning his son’s arrest may have led to his decision. Jermaine Jakes faces a charge of indecent exposure related to an incident in a southern Dallas park last month, Dallas police said.
Jermaine Jakes, 29, is accused of exposing himself in front of an undercover Dallas police vice detective at Kiest Park, nearby West Kiest Boulevard and South Hampton Road, on the night of Jan. 3, police said.
According to a Dallas Police Department arrest warrant affidavit, Jakes exposed himself to two undercover vice detectives at Keist Park.
The affidavit says Jakes walked up to one of the detectives at the park with his pants unzipped. Jakes then began to masturbate while making eye contact with the detective, according to the affidavit.
The detectives arrested Jakes on a charge of indecent exposure.
He was detained at the scene and released.

Last month, Youngblood filed a motion to strike the defamation complaint. His brother Richard filed an affidavit in support of Duane's motion and claimed the megachurch donor preyed upon him years ago when they common a hotel room during a ministry bed, alleging similar manner to his brother's original accusation.
Richard wrote in his affidavit: '[Jakes] secured a room with two beds in it, and we went to the room for the night. That night, while I was laying in my bed, I felt Elder Jakes climb into my bed.
'He pressed his body against mine and asked, 'Youngblood, do you sense that?' He was referencing his erection that he was pressing against my backside.
