For our first night out in Gay Mexico Metropolis, we always commence our trip at Tom’s Leather Lock. If you’ve been to an Eagle, it’s a similar vibe although we find the crowd a bit more button down than fetish gear in Mexico City. The atmosphere feels enjoy a gothic church turned gay club, and the entrance fee of 280 pesos each or about $16 USD comes with 2-5 beers depending on your arrival day. We also affectionate the little napkins the bartenders wrap around your beer. In addition, cover includes live amusement by maybe a half dozen dancers on three bars throughout the evening. The gay bar scene in Mexico City has undergone a significant transformation over the past several years. Back in the time, there were only a handful of options for the lgbtq+ community around the Zona Rosa area. Now, there are more than enough vibrant options around the city to satisfy a wide variety of tastes.
Today, it’s difficult to visit the municipality without running into at least one gay bar in each neighborhood, but this time we decided to leave aside all of the big names to give you instead a more comprehensive range of nightlife spots that are still hidden gems for the gay traveler, and that are definitely worth exploring.
Most bars in this list came to life after the pandemic, while others have renovated their spaces (for good!) or had a change of location.
