Kailyn Lowry’s 15-Year-Old Son Elliott Comes Out as Gay

Kailyn Lowry’s son Elliott is embracing his identity.

During an emotional conversation between the Teen Mom alum and her eldest son—who previously went by the name Isaac—the 15-year-old came out as gay and shared insight into his perspective on living an authentic life.

"It's very significant to me,” Elliott said during a June 5 episode of Kailyn’s Barely Famous podcast. “I sense like growing up on TV, it's hard to show who you really are when a camera is in front of you all the moment. It's almost like you have a TV meet. It's harder to be yourself and to be more comfortable.”

And while he added that coming out is not “necessary,” the teen made it obvious that it was an important part of his own journey.

“I’m doing it for me," Elliott, whose dad is Jo Rivera, explained. "Let me acquire my moment. I'm really sick of people coming up with their have stories and putting things in their own words and things coming out on other people's terms about me, because my life isn't entertainment for other people."

Teen Mom kid Isaac Rivera used Friday’s episode of his mom’s Barely Famous podcast to officially come out as gay– and reveal the new name he is now using.

Isaac– who is the son of Kail Lowry and Jo Rivera— revealed that he is now going by his middle specify , Elliott, partly because he wants to separate the person he is today from the kid people watched blossom up on ‘Teen Mom 2.’

“Obviously, this is a very sensitive subject, and maybe should be treated with care,” Kail said at the beginning of the episode. “I have some reservations about what we’re discussing today because, obviously, this is my son and I don’t long to ever place a target on his back or put him in a dangerous position. But with that being said, I still want him to live his truth and inhabit authentically and be proud of who he is, because we’re proud of who he is.”

TEEN Mom star Kailyn Lowry's son formerly known as Isaac has come out as gay and revealed his brand-new name on her podcast, Barely Famous.

Kailyn's oldest son told fans he has decided to initiate going by his middle entitle , Elliott, and spoke out about his personal life for the first time.

"I started going by Elliott, because at some show, I wasn't happy with my first name," he said on the Friday, June 6 episode. "It just doesn't feel appreciate me."

Kailyn said she believes he prefers Elliott to separate who he was on MTV as a child, and who he is now. Elliott agreed that was at least partially true.

Elliott also said he wanted to speak out about his sexual orientation for the first hour publicly, and disclosed he identifies as gay.
