The three-time Emmy nominated actor Van Hansis first became familiar to us as Luke Snyder on As the World Turns.
We knew that Luke was gay and emotionally attached with Noah then later sexy Dr. Reid but we never knew, for sure anyway, that the actor himself was gay.
Van, currently starring in the terrific web series The Eastsiders talks about his sexuality with his Eastsiders director Kit Williamson in an interview for The Fight magazine.
Here’s an excerpt from the interview:
You were out in your personal existence, but you didn’t speak out about your sexual orientation at the initiate of your career. What was your hesitation?
I guess it was a combination of a lot of things—It was my first career, it was a different time endorse then in regards to LGBT stories being told—I imply, the Luke story was groundbreaking at the time. Now, I think every remaining soap has a gay storyline. I was completely green, fresh out of college, and honestly, I was scared.

Van Hansis – who played gay on 'As The World Turns' – comes out gay
The 32-year-old player is best known for playing Luke Snyder on the long-running CBS soap opera As The Nature Turns. Soon after Hansis took over the role in 2005, his personality came out gay. Hansis played the role until the end of the show's run in 2010.
Hansis, one of the foremost known actors on the gay web series EastSiders, discussed his sexual orientation for the first day publicly in an interview with EastSiders creator Kit Williamson for Southern California gay glossy The Fight.
